Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the closing ceremony of the international conference "Realization of the Promise of Revenge," held at the Allameh Jafari Hall of the Islamic Culture and Thought Research Institute in Tehran on July 22, Priest Gregoris Nersessian drew upon Christian teachings to articulate the legitimacy of blood vengeance as a universal principle.
"Seeking justice for spilled blood is an indisputable right belonging to every individual, group, religion, and society, serving as a deterrent to prevent the recurrence of similar crimes. This very truth has also been emphasized by Jesus Christ (PBUH) himself," the Armenian Orthodox priest stated.
The conference was organized by the Islamic Culture and Thought Research Institute and the Imam Reza (PBUH) Seminary Complex, in collaboration with a number of the country's scientific and research centers.
Justice: the triumph of light over darkness
Nersessian elaborated on the spiritual dimensions of the pursuit of justice, asserting, "The establishment of justice signifies the triumph of light over darkness. Therefore, the blood vengeance for the martyred Imam of the Islamic Revolution must be carried out with precision, taking into full account the prevailing political, social, and security conditions."
He underscored that authentic peace cannot be achieved in the absence of justice, stating emphatically, "Peace without justice is not genuine peace."
Iran: a nation that has never initiated aggression
The Armenian Orthodox spokesman further highlighted Iran's historical record on the global stage, noting, "The Iranian nation has never been the initiator of any war or act of oppression. It has consistently remained a defender of peace, friendship, and compassion among all human beings." He added that the teachings of Christianity likewise stand as enduring advocates for tranquility, justice, and freedom.
